Opportunity: Post-doctoral Position in Aquatic and Terrestrial Ecotoxicology

Are you passionate about making a difference in environmental science? Join the Laboratory of Ecotoxicology and Applied Ecology, part of EESC-USP / Escola de Engenharia de Ṣo Carlos, USP РUniversidade de Ṣo Paulo, for a groundbreaking research project!

Context: They’re seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team for the Thematic Project titled “Fate and impacts of microplastics and pesticides in aquatic and terrestrial matrices in agricultural contexts,” funded by FAPESP. Under the guidance of Professor Evaldo Gaeta Espindola, you’ll delve into the fascinating realms of hashtag#ecotoxicology, exploring the interactions between hashtag#microplastics, hashtag#pesticides, and hashtag#environmentalorganisms.

Project Overview: Plastic pollution, particularly microplastics (MPs), poses significant threats to ecosystems worldwide. In their project, they aim to unravel the intricate relationships between microplastics, pesticides, and their impacts on soil and freshwater ecosystems. Through innovative experimental designs, including laboratory experiments and mesocosm studies, they’ll investigate the fate, transport, and toxicity of these contaminants, shedding light on their ecological implications.

Responsibilities: As a postdoctoral researcher, you’ll play a pivotal role in conducting laboratory experiments and ecosystem modelling to evaluate the effects of microplastics and pesticides on aquatic and terrestrial organisms. Your work will encompass various endpoints, from mortality and reproduction to behavioural responses, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of stress factors in ecosystems.

Profile Requirements:
-PhD in ecology, environmental engineering, biology, environmental sciences, or related field.
-Strong background in Ecotoxicology (aquatic and terrestrial).
-Proven experience in scientific communication and writing, demonstrated by a robust publication record.
-Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
-Proficiency in organizing, reporting, and publishing research data.
Experience in mentoring junior scientists and students.

Application Deadline: 31/05/2024.
Location: São Carlos, São Paulo, Brazil
